Garlic Oregano Roasted Chapatti OR Your Flat Pizza bread
Chapatti being one of our staples, I have curated my dough with a perfect blend of flours that bond oh so beautifully, keeping the dough soft and supple. Thats a perfect foundation for a super soft, tears with 3 fingers and melts in your mouth chapattis.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups Homemade Chapatti flour blend or whole wheat flour
- 1tbs dry Oregano
- 1 tsp dry garlic powder
- Salt to taste
- 1 tbs Spanish EVOO
- 1cup hot water, or as required
Add oil to the kneading bowl. Add flour to the bowl and spices and salt to the flour. Start kneading by adding 1 cup hot water to the flour. Fold the flour in the water with a silicone spatula so you don’t burn your hands. Fold very well so the flour looks doughy and flaky. Now you can use your hands to knead the dough. Use your ball of your palm, just below your thumb to add pressure to the dough and knead it by stretching it from close to your body towards away from your body. Soon you will see the dough is shaping up beautifully and bounces back with a finger press. Set aside for 10-15 mins covered with a warm cloth, before you start rolling it out.
Roll it out thinly just like your regular chapattis. First roast it on the pan on both sides then on a roasting hand grill. Shown in the picture. The magic is all in the roasting. It brings out the aromatic flavors of the spices and makes it elegantly delictable.
P.S.: You can also roll the dough a little thick in order to use it as a flat bread for your Pizza base. Roast it only on the pan this time. Layer it with marinara sauce, cheese and your choice veggies. It’s a very tasty wholesome crust.
