Mohanthal Recipe Origin &Introduction
I love making traditional desserts with a twist, which turns out to be just as yummy. This is a dessert from the Western region of #India, #Gujarat, yes, so traditionally this dessert is made with chickpea flour(besan).
Believe me they do taste heavenly, hands down. But sometimes, chickpea is not tolerated by some folks, as they are allergic.

with this recipe, just use wheat flour instead. So this Diwali if your mind is racing as to what sweet or dessert you wish to make, here is an authentic easy traditional Mohanthal recipe you must try.
So shall we start from scratch?
For Ingredients we need:
Chickpea flour/whole wheat flour fine 2 cups
2 cups melted Ghee
1 can sweet condensed milk
2 tbs plain milk
1/2 tsp my dessert spice
1 -2 tsp Slivered pistachio and almonds
1 loaf pan- greased with ghee
1 wide mixing bowl
1 large sifter
So shall we start from scratch?
For Ingredients we need:
Chickpea flour/whole wheat flour fine 2 cups
2 cups melted Ghee
1 can sweet condensed milk
2 tbs plain milk
1/2 tsp my dessert spice
1 -2 tsp Slivered pistachio and almonds
1 loaf pan- greased with ghee
1 wide mixing bowl
1 large sifter
Procedure:
In your mixing bowl add the flour. Add 2 tsp room temperature melted ghee and 2 tsp plain milk.
Grease the loaf pan and set aside.
Now mix gently with your hand or a fork the entire flour, till the point it forms a clump with your fist.
In a wide heated pan add rest of the ghee and sift the flour through the sifter in it carefully.
Keep roasting till the flour attains a deeper aroma and color and gets bubbly.
Go ahead and add the full can of sweet condensed milk and mix well.
Mix till you feel it more dense and keep at it. No walking away from the stove at this point. Keep mixing till the dough starts clumping partially and falls apart in the pan as you are mixing.
When you see its reached a point when the clumps no longer stick to each other it’s time to pour it out in the loaf pan. Press it out smooth and sprinkle and press in the cut dry nuts and place it aside for cooling.
After 20 min. cut them into rectangular cubes.
They should be perfect and pleasingly inviting.
